The challenge
The ELRC resolves grievances and disputes between educators, officials and their employers in the public education sector, through conciliation and arbitration. Referrals, supporting documents and outcomes have to move between the parties and the Council within set time frames, with a record of every step.
What we built
We developed the ELRC's online Dispute Management System, the electronic channel parties use to refer a dispute to the Council. A referral and its supporting documents go to the respondent automatically, and proof of service is stored on the system. Settlement agreements and arbitration awards are recorded against each case.
How we run it
IO Systems hosts the system in South Africa and maintains and supports it in production, so the Council and the parties it serves can rely on it as the route for dispute referrals.
